Call for proposals
Seed funding programme
To further our goal and to foster interdisciplinary research, the Board of Affiliates of the ISCD is pleased to announce a call for proposals “Support to research at the interfaces“. Aimed at advancing research that combines computing and/or data science expertise with domain expertise, this funding is intended to
We are particularly drawn to sustain projects that will enable faculty teams to develop successful proposals for large scale grants. We will look for applications that propose unique and novel approaches to bring scholars together to work on projects that cross traditional discipline boundaries.
The affiliates and associated faculty are eligible to request funds to support:
- invitations or short stays of high-level scientists in one of the SU laboratories;
- doctoral contracts for co-directed theses (possibly including missions);
- post-doctoral awards of 12 or 24 months (possibly including missions);
- fixed-term contract for an expert engineer;
- the organization of events (conferences, seminars, workshops, schools, specialized courses).
Co-financing (ANR, European contracts, …) is strongly encouraged. The researchers are invited to study the possibility of co-financing the salaries of doctoral students and post-doctoral students recruited on ISCD credits.
Support the actions of incubated projects
Affiliates and associate members of the institute’s team projects are eligible for funding, if it is intended to support actions within the scientific scope of the project, as defined by its scientific leader. These requests have priority over requests from researchers or professors at Sorbonne Université who do not belong to ISCD team projects.

Creation of junior teams 2020
March 2019: the Scientific Advisory Committee proposed to launch a call for the creation of several junior teams in January 2020. Each junior team will be financially supported up to a maximum of € 100k per year for a period of 2 years.
Upon evaluation, at most two of these junior teams will be upgraded into senior team projects for a period of 4 years.
This call aims to stimulate the creation of interdisciplinary links around scientific computing and data analysis.
It is open for all researchers and faculty members belonging to any institution of the Sorbonne Université Alliance, bearers of interdisciplinary projects.
The information meeting took place on March 26, 2019 at 10am in the amphitheater Charpak (patio 22-23,
Saint Bernard level, ground floor). Researchers and faculty members interested in submitting a project have been able
to meet and discuss with the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee and ISCD management.
i) download the submission form (Word file).
ii) upload your proposal (Word or PDF format), in case of failure of download send your proposal by email to iscd [at] upmc.fr or by wetransfert.com or equivalent

Call for PhD grants 2019
ISCD is lauching a call for granting 3 doctoral contracts. These doctoral contracts will support research projects related to ISCD’s scientific axes and in particular around applications of scientific computing, high-performance computing, numerical simulation and scientific visualization.
Projects will be co-directed or co-supervised by two research professors or researchers from two separate units involved in ISCD. The main research unit must be affiliated with a doctoral school of SU.
Deadline for submitting projects: July 3, 2019
- Download the call for proposal and the submission form (Word, in french);
- create a single archive file (PhD_NameDirector + .zip, .gz, .tar) with the requested documents;
- upload the archive file:
Support incentive actions
Funding can be requested for innovative multidisciplinary studies in the field of intensive computing, data analysis, AI, scientific visualization outside the thematic axes of the project teams, in a percentage that will not exceed 20% of the annual budget of the ISCD. For applications outside the team projects, the research-training link will be favored and training actions are strongly encouraged, especially if they rely on collaborative dissemination tools (E-learning, MOOC).
